Parris Island to dedicate Purple Heart Memorial With the aid of the Beaufort Chapter of the Purple Heart Association, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island will dedicate its Purple Heart Memorial this morning. The memorial will sit next to a monument honoring drill instructors near the Depot's Parade Deck. Retired Maj. Gen. James Livingston, a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, will serve as the dedication's master of ceremonies.
